Halloween Portraits

It's that time of year again for our annual Halloween Portraits.  On Monday, October 31st from 10:30am to 5:00pm, we will be photographing your little ghosts and goblins in our special Halloween scene.

This year we are partnering with the Salvation Army to help add to their food bank.  We are asking for donations of non-perishable dry food items, such as, rice, beans (pinto, etc.) cereal (Cheerios, etc.) oatmeal, spaghetti/noodles, mac & cheese, hamburger helper, etc.

Here's how it works, bring in a non-perishable food item and your child (or pet) in costume to our studio at 3017 S. Decatur Blvd. on Monday October 31st between 10:30am to 5:00pm.

No appointment neccessary. Children (or pets) are photgraphed in our special Halloween scene and each child will receive one 5x7 portrait. Halloween portraits will be ready for pick up on Friday Nov. 4th between 10-4. Halloween portraits are limited to children in costume and one portrait per child.

Hope to see you on Halloween!!

Maternity Portraits

I think Maternity portraits are some of my favorite sessions to photograph. Whether you call them pregnancy portraits, prenatal portraits or belly photos, it's a wonderful time to be photographed.  A lot of questions arise when thinking about this type of photography, like: When should I have my Maternity session done? What type of clothes should I wear? Can my husband or my other children be in the portrait?  I would like to answer some of these questions. A good time to be photographed is when the belly passes the breasts, usually around 71/2 to 8 months. Can be a little sooner or a little later depending on your size. You have to be careful not to wait too long. I have had a few sessions that had to call and cancel because they went into labor the day of their photo session. Sometimes if you wait to close to your due date it can be uncomfortable to move around for posing. When the question about clothing comes up, think about what you want to do with the portrait. Will it be something that you display in the family room or a bedroom or will the portraits be put in an album for viewing only by the family. I have photographed Maternity sessions fully clothed or with fabric wraps and  some skin showing and totally nude ( with parts covered by hands or flowers). The choice is up to you, what ever you're most comfortable with. Feel free to bring in different outfits and we can choose together what would be most flatering. I have different fabric wraps in a variety of colors and am adding new items all the time.  If you are concerned about stretch marks, scars, tattoos or belly button piercings, don't worry, I offer complete skin softening and retouching. You will have a fabulous belly!! So, you can show as much or as little skin as you choose. As for additional people in your Maternity portraits, they are always welcome. Some of my favorite shots are Dad and the belly or the older children telling the belly a secret. One of my newest projects is photographing the progression of the pregancy. Starting with showing barely any belly, than a couple of months later with a bigger belly and then about 8 months or so to show an even bigger belly. This series is then put together in a panel with the last image in the panel mom and baby.
